Parking/Traffic Flow for Drop-off

We are looking forward to welcoming your families back to campus next week!

Please be aware that the school regularly receives feedback from our neighbors in the apartment building opposite campus regarding traffic congestion during peak times. In particular, we have been told that heavy traffic makes it difficult for them to access their apartment building’s parking lot.

Traffic tends to build up in the morning and afternoon, especially when we have special events or on rainy days, when more parents drive their children to and from school. The flow of cars is also disrupted by vehicles waiting to make right turns across oncoming traffic, either into or out of the school.

We would therefore like to ask for your cooperation in following the traffic flow shown below wherever possible, and particularly on days when traffic is heavier, such as during special events or on rainy days. Your kind support will be greatly appreciated and will allow us to maintain good relations with our neighbors and ensure smooth traffic for everyone.

Thank you for your consideration and understanding in this matter.

Wednesday Dismissal

As faculty and staff have Professional Development on Wednesdays from 2:30pm, students may not remain on campus after the 2:30pm, unless they are waiting for or participating in an organized sport practice to begin.

Please note that there will be no adult supervision after school hours for students who are not enrolled in school-sponsored activity.

Students are only allowed to play on the playground and fields after school on Wednesday with parent or guardian supervision. Thank you for understanding.

Health Office

Student Health Information

Thank you to our returning families for completing the new Student Health Form on PowerSchool. Once completed, your child's information will be retained in the system. Next year, your family will only need to revise the information based on changes in your family's health needs. Having the updated health information in PowerSchool ensures our staff can provide the best possible support for your child and reduce paperwork for school trips.

For New Families:

We appreciate your patience in resubmitting some health information on the form, noting that you may have already provided some of this information during enrollment. Thank you for your cooperation.

School Medication Policy Reminder:

As outlined in the Student Handbook, students are not permitted to carry medication on campus. All medications must be stored and administered by the Health Office. If your child requires medication during school hours, please drop off the medication along with the completed authorization form directly at the Health Office.

Heat Safety Announcements

Updated Heat Safety Measures

Dear Parents,

To ensure student safety, Canadian Academy is implementing an updated 'heat safety protocol' aligned with the Ministry of Education (MEXT) and Japan Sports Association (JSPO) safety standards.

We now perform on-site Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) measurements to manage outdoor activities. WGBT is a measure of how hot it feels that combines readings for temperature, humidity, sunlight, and wind. When the local WBGT reading reaches 31°C, outdoor PE, recess, or after-school activities will be moved indoors and/or cancelled. In temperatures between 28°C and 30.9°C, outdoor time is capped at 20 minutes with mandatory shade and hydration breaks, as well as gear adjustments according to the activity.

As part of this initiative to keep students safe, we are also strictly enforcing a "No Hat, No Play" policy. Students must bring a hat and a labeled water bottle daily. Please encourage your child to tell a teacher or the nurse immediately, if they feel dizzy, have a headache or cramps, or feel sick.

Thank you for partnering with us to prevent heat-related illness.

School Lunch

Thank you for choosing the school cafeteria! The cafeteria operates on a 'Cashless Cafeteria' where your children have a pre-paid debit card account that pays for their school lunch. All accounts are given a personal identification number which can be easily retrieved if forgotten.
