Founded in 1970 by US Senator Gaylord Nelson, Earth Day is recognized worldwide and celebrated on April 22. Our elementary, middle and high school Eco Club members have organized a variety of activities and events for the week of April 18. The Eco Club works to increase awareness about the importance of environmental protection and taking action to protect our planet.
Here are the themes and activities for the coming week, with slight variations between the three schools:
April 18 Recycling Monday
April 19- Earth Color Tuesday: Wear green, brown, blue and be a green commuter to reduce your carbon footprint!
April 20- Black out Wednesday and Bean growing competition: Turn off unnecessary lights! Classes will be given a bean seed and pot, and students have a month to see which class can grow the tallest plant.
April 21 - No Food Waste Thursday: Eco club members will be measuring food waste for each grade level. The winning grade will get spirit points!
April 22- Earth Day Meat Free Friday: Cezars' will serve a meat free lunch.
April 24- Kibonomori Weeding: Eco Club members will gather to weed the Kibonomori space on Rokko Mountain.
