Grade 9 in the Lab

Our grade 9 students were in the lab today, digging into their unit of study, 'What is life made of?' The students were examining cells and their structures, specifically comparing the cells of an onion with their own cheek cells.

Through careful observation, students began to create their definition of a cell, discovering differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, and calculating the total magnification of an image seen through a microscope.

Additionally, students were asked to draw the cells in detail-- and were encouraged to use their smartphones to take photos of what could be observed through the eyepiece.

Today, our grade 9s were actively engaged in deepening their understanding of the building blocks of life through a hands-on experience.
