Opening Doors to New Interests at CA's Secondary School Clubs Fair

"Canadian Academy inspires students to inquire, reflect and choose to compassionately impact the world throughout their lives"

With the mission at the forefront of our minds, CA held the Secondary School Club fair this week  where students eagerly showcased a diverse range of initiatives aimed at creating positive change both locally and globally.

This year’s fair was a dynamic and inspiring event, demonstrating CA’s commitment to fostering creativity, personal fulfillment, and collaboration in a compassionate and adaptive environment. With over 30 choices on offer, the clubs covered environmental activism, political activism, creative expression, athletic performance, efforts to address food insecurity and many more, each bringing something unique to the table.

What makes CA's Club Fair truly unique is that it is entirely student-driven. From the conception of the clubs to their ongoing management, the students take the lead, reflecting the school’s mission to inspire inquiry, reflection, and compassionate action. By running their own initiatives, CA students learn to reflect on their roles in the world and actively choose to make a positive impact.

Jonathan Ames, CA’s new Learning Services Coordinator played a pivotal role in this year’s event. When asked about his motivation and vision, he said,

“As the new Service Learning Coordinator, I was motivated to take on the role focusing on clubs and service because student-led initiatives play a crucial role in shaping a vibrant and engaged school community. Clubs offer students the opportunity to explore their passions, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful connections with their peers, and enrich the entirety of the CA community. The chance to support and guide these experiences is something I find incredibly rewarding.

This year, my main goals for school clubs are to increase participation and inclusivity, ensuring that every student feels they have a place to express their interests. I also aim to encourage more service-based projects within clubs to build a stronger sense of community engagement. Lastly, I hope to support student leaders in organizing well-structured, impactful events that leave a lasting impression on the school and the wider community.”

CA’s Club Fair is a testament to the school’s vision of fostering local and global collaboration through student initiative, leadership, and creativity. As students continue to reflect on their roles and choose compassionate ways to impact the world, the Club Fair stands as a vibrant example of Canadian Academy’s core values in action.
