Application Timeline for the 2025-26 School Year

• Applications for the current 2025-26 school year are welcomed and will be reviewed pending grade level availability. Please note that spaces are limited.
• Applications for grades without availability will automatically be considered for the start of the 2026-27 school year. 
• Families are notified of the admissions decision through email and in writing generally within one week of the interview for applications to the current school year.

Application Timeline for the 2026-27 School Year

• Applications open: Applications for the 2026-27 school year will open from September 2025. We continue to accept applications anytime during the year leading up to the target school year. However, please note that applications received before January 31, 2026 will be prioritized. Applications received after January 31, 2026 will be reviewed pending grade level availability. 
• Application interviews: Once your application is completed, it will be reviewed and you will be contacted regarding an interview. 
• Admissions decision: Admissions decisions for applications submitted by January 31, 2026, will be shared in March 2026.

Canadian Academy's academic year begins mid-to-late August and concludes in early June. 

We observe three breaks during the academic year: Fall Break in October, Winter Break from late December to early January, and Spring Break in late March.

Yes! We extend an invitation to see the spaces and places of our school in person, and answer any questions you might have about the admissions process. 

As these small group tours are personalized and limited in number, please contact us at least two weeks prior whenever possible. Schedule your tour here!

Places at Canadian Academy are highly sought after, which can sometimes result in a waiting pool at some grade levels. We encourage families to apply as soon as possible. When a seat becomes available, we review all the applicants in the waiting pool and make a selection. To be entered into the waiting pool, applicants need to have completed the entire application process.

If the applicant is placed in our waiting pool, the application will be considered for the year applied and the start of the following school year.

Class placement is based on your child's educational background and age on October 1st. Although our school year follows a North American school calendar (mid August through mid June), we are happy to accept students at any time during the school year. Please note that Japanese schools start from April, with the child being six when entering Grade 1. Student placement decisions for those coming from a different school calendar is based on several factors, among which include age, educational history, and the percentage of school year already completed and still remaining at CA.

There is a non-refundable application fee of ¥90,000 per applicant.

If the applicant is placed in our waiting pool, the application will be considered for the year applied and the start of the following school year. A second application fee will not be required so long as the applicant is in our waiting pool, although updated documentation may be requested.
