Giving to Canadian Academy
On September 13, 1913, the Canadian Methodist Academy opened with 13 students. In 1917, the name of the school changed to Canadian Academy, and in 1928, generous donations enabled the school to purchase the Nagamine Heights campus. In 1990, donor support helped to create the Rokko Island campus, which currently has an enrollment of over 600 students. Past, current and future students all benefit from the continued support that the community has given to CA.
Like many other private, independent schools, CA relies primarily on revenue from tuition and fees, but delivering an inspiring education requires considerable resources. CA seeks additional sources of revenue in order to fulfil our mission and deliver the highest quality educational experience to our students. As with previous generations, our community must continue to provide the wonderful opportunities that have existed at CA for 100 years.
Canadian Academy is fortunate to have a community of involved parents, dedicated faculty and staff, generous corporate partners, loyal alumni, and committed Board and leadership team members. Whether students are here for one year or for their entire education, the CA experience is something that is carried with the child and the family members for the rest of their lives. CA is grateful to those who give generously. These donors allow us to create vibrant classrooms ready for motivated students inspired by a devoted faculty, making our campus an ideal space for teaching, learning and growing.
What can I give to Canadian Academy?
- Time and Talents
Community members can volunteer at the school or school events, present to students about an area of expertise or offer an extra-curricular activity for students.
- In-Kind Goods and Services
CA welcomes the donation of goods and services, which can support teaching in the classroom, extra-curricular activities, fundraising, and promotion of CA programs.
- Monetary Donations
Monetary donations can be made through cash, check, credit card, or bank transfer, with the easiest and most efficient way being online.
The CA community raises funds for several purposes: to support the international community, to support the local community and to support CA. Fundraising to support the international community can be seen in the Thai fundraiser that occurs in the fall in MS and HS. For our local community, we raise money for Hyogo Prefecture through the Red Feather campaign, and we’ve been active in raising money to help the Tohoku area recover from the earthquake and tsunami. Finally, we raise money for CA, specifically for the Annual, Capital and Endowment funds.
- Annual Fund
The Annual Fund bridges the gap between revenue from tuition and fees and the full cost of delivering our programs. Donations to this fund allows CA to create innovative educational programs that enhance student learning.
- Capital Fund
The Capital Fund supports the purchase, renovation, improvement and maintenance related to our facility.
- Endowment Fund
The Endowment Fund ensures long-term financial sustainability. The principal will remain untouched and grow through donations. Earnings support special events and projects, such as the Centennial Celebration.
