Varying Findings and Advice on Screen time and Health
We often wonder about and debate the effect of screen time on children's health and well-being. This recent article from the BBC shares encouraging news that screen time itself is not necessarily a bad thing.
On the other hand, this article on the Screenagers website quotes research from NIH (National Institutes of Health) involving 9-10 year old children, exploring a potential link between excessive screen time and the brain's outer cortex. Both articles present a range of perspectives and qualify their results, so it is worth reading both articles in their entirety.
From next week, all CA families will be invited to open the screen time discussion, along with other aspects of healthy tech use habits, with your family, and commit to agreements that you and your child(ren) can uphold. These articles, along with recommendations from our counselors and tech team, may help you decide on those agreements.
