We are proud to report that we had great success with our Thai Village Children's Fund Campaign. In total, we raised 2,282,838 yen. My special thanks go to Mr. David Mayhew and Ms. Victoria Varona for their hard work leading the campaign. Thank you everyone for participating in the fundraiser. Without your help, we couldn't have achieved such a success. And without your kindness, many students in Thailand would not be able to continue their studies.
The Middle School raised 1,054,718 yen through all kinds of student-led activities; our Walk-a-Thon, the planter sale of Ms. Varona's G7 design class, bake sales, movies, dodgeball and many other fun games, dance and more. In addition to this, 327,000 yen was donated by MS students to sponsor Thai students individually.
I was impressed that many people came forward this year to offer individual sponsorships to Thai students. I appreciate the generous contribution of 870,000 yen made by the wider CA community (ES families, faculty, staff and alumni). Jeans' Friday raised 21,610 yen and HS SBC 9,510 yen, which made the total of the fundraiser 2,282,838 yen.
Our effort makes a great difference in the lives of Thai kids. We are not just providing scholarships to those who are unfortunate, but helping Thai children establish a system to help each other work their way out of poverty.
"Thank you so much for giving me a chance to continue my study. The only hope I have is with high education. My dream will come true and my parents can live comfortable." - a Thai student
Jeanie Vogt, the chair of the fund, expresses her gratitude to everyone who supported the fundraiser. Mr. David Mayhew and Ms. Victoria Varona are going to visit the Thai villages with nine 8th graders at the end of this month. We look forward to the news about our sponsored students.
When we donate the funds, we are not giving money but a gift of education and hope for the future.
