Middle School Nengajo Contest 2020
Posted 01/13/2020 09:19
Akemashite Omedetoo Gozaimasu (Happy New Year)!

Sending nengajo (new year's cards) is similar to the Western custom of sending Christmas/holiday cards. Although digital new year's messages have become popular these days, many Japanese still look forward to receiving nengajo.

The nengajo often includes an illustration of the animal of the year under the Chinese zodiac calendar. The year 2020 is the year of the Rat. The Middle School Japanese classes had an annual nengajo contest in December. The students demonstrated their creativity in designing a rat on their cards and wished for a healthy and happy new year. You can view their beautiful cards here.
