  • Please bring a laptop, tablet or smartphone for access to some resources or breakout sessions.

Access and Accommodation

The workshop will take place in Canadian Academy's Proctor & Gamble Black Box Theatre.

The Google Map below gives the location and contact details of the school and includes:

  • access information: airports and stations
  • some local hotels and guest-houses
  • some suggestions for eating locally
  • Please click here for details of the bus route from Sannomiya or Shinkobe.
  • Please click here for details of the KIX Airport Shuttle Bus, which takes about one hour.
  • Although the Kobe Bay Sheraton and Plaza Kobe hotels are very close to CA, they book up fast and can be expensive. Many visitors prefer to stay in hotels in the Sannomiya area of Kobe, with many more food and entertainment options.
  • Travel time to Sannomiya is about 25-30 mins on the convenient JR line and Rokko Liner.
Travel Note: Spring in Japan
KIX is a great airport, but Springtime in Japan has become very popular with tourists. Please arrive at the airport two hours before your return flight in case of slower-than-usual security and immigration. Boarding passes need to be printed at the check-in, even if you have checked in online. Airport transfer from Rokko Island Sheraton to KIX takes around one hour (schedule here).

We're sorry. The form you requested is not active at this time.
Registration for "Creating Cultures of Thinking" is now closed.

Stephen Taylor, Director of Learning:

Professional Learning at Canadian Academy is rich and varied, focused on improving student learning and inspiring creative inquiry. Teachers at CA are actively involved in weekly PD sessions (students leave early on Wednesdays), including working towards school goals, collaborative planning, assessment, reflection, using student data and more.

Teachers' annual goals are based around their self-directed Tankyuu teacher inquiry projects, which take many forms. Our teachers are encouraged to lead learning through Teachers Teaching Teachers sessions, and supported to become workshop leaders, school visitors and presenters.

You can find out more about the life of a teacher at Canadian Academy from our employment pages.
