University and College Events 2018-19

  1. On Mon 12 Nov during the HS lunch, we will host a representative from the University of Hawaii, USA. UH is a public university with multiple campuses on the Hawaiian islands, the base campus for which is Manoa. UH offers scholarships to Japanese & international students. The visit will take place in the cafeteria.
  2. On Thursday 15 Nov during the HS lunch, we will host a representative from Tacoma Community College. Ms. Namiko Ochi Bagirimvano, Director International Student Services & Programs, will talk about the U.S. community colleges’ system and its merits for students in addition to promoting Tacoma’s programs, etc. The event will take place in the Headmaster's Conference Room.
  3. On Tues 20 Nov morning Ms. Durkin and Miss Victoria will present on “Enrichment Programs” including internships, mentorships, and summer options. This event will take place in the SS library at 8:30-9:30 am.
  4. On Thur 22 Nov during the HS lunch, we will host a representative from St. Thomas University. St. Thomas is Canada's only exclusively liberal arts university; they are known for a commitment to social justice and global studies. Students often continue into law, government, journalism, education, social work, or careers focused on civic engagement and humanitarian work, and they offer an excellent International Scholarship Program with awards ranging from $2,500 up to full tuition.
  5. On Monday 10 December during the HS lunch, Miss Victoria will host an online "webinar" with the Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Canada. This is in an effort to provide more university options to students when/if the universities can not come to CA. Emily Carr is a top arts program in Canada. The event will take place in the Headmaster's Conference Room.
